Why Traction Is Different

Traction Expertise

Experience the difference when your insurance expert is an authentic car person

Kit Car Insurance Specialists

We’ve placed numerous kit cars across our lineup of specialty carriers.  You won’t need to explain what your vehicle is, why it’s special or why “we couldn’t find that model in our system.”  Plus, we we can get modifications and other upgrades covered.

We don’t need “tricks” to get your car covered like many agents.  Our goal is to get your kit car covered correctly.  Because it’s all we do.

Often Cheaper Than Traditional Insurance

Our enthusiast carrier partners know car people treat their cars different.  Drive them less, are more careful with them, maintain them properly and even give them the better spot in the garage or driveway.  All of this can mean less risk.  That’s why those who qualify for enthusiast insurance can save on average up to 40% vs. traditional insurance policies.

True Replacement Cost + Choice Of Repair Shops

Most of our coverage programs are written with an agreed value, so you know you are getting true replacement value for your car in the event of a total loss.  And many of our carrier partners feature choice of repair shops.  They even will cover modifications.

So no more worrying about whether you’ll actually get the right value for your car, or if you can get it repaired correctly.   Even when you are not at fault.

Please provide as much information as possible in the following screens.

Your Questions Answered.

There are a lot of agents who say they know cars, but how many of them really do?  How many specialize in just cars for serious enthusiasts? We’re experts because it’s all we do.

My kit or replica car isn't typical or well known, can you still help me?

Yes!  Depending on your use and situation we help all kinds of non-typical enthusiast, unique or less well known kit and replica vehicles coverage.

However, we are unable to help with home built trailers or campers.

My car is a kit, replica or converted race car, can you really get it covered for driving on public roads?

In a lot of cases, we can!  Even if your kit car is a former race car, open cockpit vehicle or “race car like” – in most states and qualified situations we can help.  Your vehicle will need to be have the necessary components to be street driven, like turn signals and taillights.

We cannot however, speak for non-insurance related legal or registration questions regarding vehicles that were not initially intended to be street legal.

I have a short VIN, state assigned VIN or no VIN. Can you still help?

Yes!  We work with short VINs, state assigned VINs, donor VINs and chassis numbers all of the time.

If you haven’t yet gotten a VIN yet or have questions how when in the process you can get insurance, contact us and we’ll be glad to discuss your situation.

Will my policy cost extra through Traction?

No!  In fact, it might even be cheaper.  We are agents and are paid strictly on the commissions from the carriers we place business with.  We add no markup or fees to your policy.  Plus, we work for you, not the carrier.

My agent said they could get me covered as a [INSERT AMERICAN MODEL HERE]

Most agents don’t know how to write open cockpit car insurance.  A common “trick” they will try is to just write it as some random model car.  We do not use or recommend this approach.  You may have problems maintaining coverage, you could have problems if you have a claim and you are unlikely to get anything like the real value of your vehicle in the event of a loss.  With our coverage programs we get your vehicle covered as a properly identified vehicle without having to resort to “tricks” to get you covered.

What carriers do you work with? Are you a carrier?

We are not a carrier.  We are agents who help match enthusiasts with underwriting companies.  We have over a dozen specialty enthusiast insurance carriers.  Your typical agent may only have 1-2 and may only place a handful of enthusiast cars a year.  We place 100s!
