Morgan Supersport: A Morgan You Can Actually Use

Morgan recently announced it’s new flagship model, the Morgan Supersport. The new model is more than just an updated Morgan, it’s intended to bring the Morgan to a place few small volume cars make it – into a more significant part of everyday life.

Still, while some media outlets have dubbed this a Morgan you can daily drive, we’re not sure that is the intent here. The goal with the new Morgan Supersport seems to be making the Morgan the ultimate weekend car, rather than simply a garage queen.

While there is plenty of talk about it’s new aluminum chassis and revised suspension, Morgan spends equal time referring to “balance”, “usability” and even improve stowage.

Technically considered a 2026 model, the Morgan Supersport is intended to replace the previous Plus 6 flagship model. It’s expected to began taking orders in April. The Morgan Supersport is expected to start at 85,000 pounds.

Engine, Transmission And Driveline

While the Supersport is pretty much an all Morgan chassis, the power plant is straight out of your favorite BMW or Toyota Supra. The new chassis is designed to use the BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo inline six and a ZF 8 speed transmission. While not as powerful as versions you find, the B58 has been proven to be a powerplant that can generate substantial power if the owner wishes.

An optional Limited-slip Differential is also available with the Morgan Supersport.

Suspension

In addition to being powered by the B58 and ZF transmission, the Supersport adds a number of suspension improvements. The revised suspension design gets combined with front and rear anti-roll bars as standard provide a level of handling sophistication beyond any previous Morgan sports car.

An optional Dynamic Handling Pack, which features adjustable front and rear Nitron dampers, has valving and spring rates that have been tuned specifically for Supersport to provide optimum performance. 24 clicks of damping adjustment allow the driver to refine the ride to their own taste.

US Fans Will Need To Wait

Sadly for those of us in the US, we’ll need to wait. The new Morgan is expected to be available in the UK and Europe at launch. No details on when the vehicle may be available from US Morgan dealers.
