ZR1 VIN 001 And Last 911 S/T Combine To Raise Nearly 5 Million For Charity

Chevrolet and Porsche recently reported that a pair incredible cars were auctioned off for the American Red Cross, in large part to support recent disasters from Hurricanes and Wildfires. The combined they raised nearly 5 million dollars. These one of kind cars drew huge amount of interest from their auction at two famous auction sites, Barrett Jackson and Sotheby’s respectively.

The Chevrolet, the first production C8 ZR1 with a VIN ending in 001, set a charity auction record at Barrett Jackson of 3.7 million dollars
“The Red Cross is working around the clock to provide help and hope to people across the country impacted by disasters big and small, including wildfires, floods and other crises,” said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. “We cannot thank Chevrolet enough for their tremendous generosity as we work together to offer critical relief and comfort to families and communities in dire need.”
Chevrolet recently announced the all new C8 ZR1 would be going on sale to the public in mid February with a starting MSRP* of $174,995 (including $1,695 DFC) for the 1LZ coupe and $184,995 (including DFC) for the 1LZ hardtop convertible.
A few highlights of the ZR1 include:
- A hand-assembled 1,064 hp twin-turbo V8 engine with flat plane crank
- Visible carbon fiber roof
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- Performance Data Recorder
- Carbon fiber ground effects and side intakes
The C8 ZR1 of course made news by setting lap records at 4 US tracks without the use of professional race car drivers.
Final 911 S/T

In addition to the ZR1 setting an auction record, Porsche also auctioned off the final 911 S/T model for the American Red Cross for 1 million dollars.
Painted in Shore Blue Metallic and equipped with the Heritage Design Package, the auctioned 911 S/T is number 1,919 of the 1,963 vehicles created to mark the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911. It is the only 911 S/T in the United States not yet assigned to a customer.
“It’s deeply gratifying to support the American Red Cross in partnership with Porsche Cars North America,” said Gord Duff, President of RM Sotheby’s. “We’d like to send our heartfelt congratulations to the new owner of this amazing car and thank them for their generosity in supporting communities in need.”
In addition to the car, the winning bidder will also receive a limited-edition 911 S/T Porsche Design timepiece and an exclusive owner’s manual pouch signed by Director of the GT model line, Andreas Preuninger.
Created in 2023 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 911, the 911 S/T is the lighest 911 of the 992 generation. In another nod to the debut year of the 911, 1963, only 1,963 992 911 S/T were made. The final, 1963, was used for this auction.
