F1 Season Kicks Off With Move To Apple TV

With the start of the 2026 F1 Season just weeks away with Australian Grand Prix, another big change is in store for 2026. As you’ve probably heard by now, F1 official streaming and broadcast home starting this year is on Apple TV.

The move to Apple TV is a 5 year deal running through the 2030 season of Formula 1.

So what does this move mean? What about subscriptions to F1 TV? In this article we’ll talk about what is changing now that F1 will no longer be shown on ESPN and optionally, via F1 TV subscription.

Formula 1 Streaming On Apple TV

Apple TV will deliver comprehensive coverage of Formula 1, with all practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix available to Apple TV subscribers. Select races and all practice sessions will also be available for free in the Apple TV app throughout the course of the season.

How To Get Apple TV

Apple TV is available with an Apple TV subscription, starting at $12.99 a month as a standalone. It’s also included in Apple One bundles.

Apple TV app is available on AppleTV4K devices, Roku, FireTV, Google TV, Playstation, Xbox, as well as SmartTVs from Samsung, LG, Vizio, Sony, Hisense, TCL and select Xfinity set top boxes.

What About F1 TV Premium Content?

F1 TV Premium, F1’s own premier content offering, will continue to be available in the U.S. via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe.

If you previous subscribed to F1 TV Premium, those subscriptions are expected to come to an end. If you’d like access to similar content, you’ll need to sign up for an Apple TV subscription, which will now feature the F1 premium content integrated into the experience.

Apple TV is expected to offer some of the popular features of F1 TV premium, including allow for advanced, multi-angle viewing, as well as practice, qualifying, sprint and races.

Is there Formula 1 Content On Apple TV?

Apple TV has already begun posting Formula 1 content in the lead up to the season kickoff.

As reported/listed by 9 to 5 Mac, here are all the videos included:

  • Livery Reveal: Red Bull
  • 2026 F1 Rule Changes
  • A New Era of F1
  • Grand Prix Schedule
  • Sprint Schedule
  • F1 Academy Schedule
  • 2025 in Review
  • Abu Dhabi: Championship Decider
  • Lando Norris: Ride with the Champ
  • 2025 in F2 & F3

Expect additional content to be added as the seasons gets closer to its start.

What About Series Favorites Like Formula 1: Drive to Survive?

Documentaries and shows that were already licensed to third party content providers, like Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix are expected to stay on their original homes, at least for as long as any licensing deals allow.

Is This Different Than The F1 Movie On Apple TV?

Yes, not only is Apple TV the current (and expected long term) home of the F1 Movie, but all F1 races and official content in the US will be available exclusively on Apple TV.

This partnership builds on Apple’s ever expanding relationship with Formula 1, which included the extremely successful F1 The Movie, which became the highest-grossing sports movie of all time.

2026 Formula 1 Schedule

The 2026 Formula 1 season kicks off March 6-8th with the Australian Grand Prix, with Apple TV covering the qualifying, practice and race. The 2026 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 11:00 PM ET (3:00 PM local time in Melbourne).
