Original Article – Porsche Teases Latest Factory 911 Race Car

Porsche has begun teasing, through a series of photos of it on track testing, the latest 911 Cup car which is due to be revealed in the coming weeks. Describing it’s current state as “largely completed its development phase”, this newest edition based on the 992.2 GT3 is a pure racer aimed at customer cars running in the 911 Supercup and Carrera Cup series in North America starting with the 2026 season.

The 911 Cup car is actually built right along side the street 911, which is a testament to just how close the factory race cars and the street cars are. In fact, this has been the case since the factory race car program was introduced in 1990.

While Porsche didn’t released many details about the latest factory racer, a lot could be inferred from the 992.2 GT street variants the car is based on. Expect FIA complaints engineering upgrades.

Porsche did specifically note that the latest variant will target eFuel blend/FIA advanced sustainable fuel at 100.5 octane. So expect it to make a few more horsepower than the 91/93 octane targeted GT3 street variants.

Until we get more details, here are a few pics they released just to make you want one more.
